I had the privilege of having an amazing month abroad and a very re-invigorating sabbatical. I have to give Marcilla, Samantha, Amy, Kristin, and Krista an amazing thank you for all of the tremendous work they did while I was away.

I had the opportunity to spend some time abroad to celebrate my anniversary and to also take some amazing personal development classes. If you had asked me 2 years ago if it would be possible to step away from my life, my demanding career, and my kids for 6 weeks, I would have told you that was crazy talk and there was no way that was going to happen. Yet, here I am having and experiencing a year that has been even more fulfilling than I had hoped for.

Here is the first step in that process.

When you are ready to shift something, to improve how fulfilled you are in your relationship, your family, or your career, you first have to believe that it’s possible. We have to stop making excuses of all of the reasons why that would be hard. We have to stop settling and telling ourselves things like “Well, maybe I just can’t go abroad right now since I have kids, maybe that’s just not available to me for the next decade.”

Instead of engaging in that negative line of thinking, we need to start asking ourselves instead – What if? What if I could do that? We need to plant some seeds of believing that something incredible for yourself is possible and that it can be done without harming or costing anybody else. However, the first step is, you have to buy into it yourself.
