There’s a pervasive myth in business: the higher you climb, the more you’re expected to have it all together. Yet, many women in senior leadership roles are silently carrying immense burdens. They’re navigating complex professional responsibilities while absorbing the emotional turbulence around them—managing crises, maintaining morale, and often tending to personal commitments simultaneously. Despite leading teams and driving outcomes, many do so in isolation.
This isn’t due to a lack of capability or ambition. In fact, according to McKinsey’s Women in the Workplace 2024 report, women have made notable gains in representation at senior levels over the past decade. However, these advancements are fragile. The report highlights that while women now hold 29% of C-suite positions, progress is uneven and often precarious. Women remain underrepresented across the corporate pipeline, and the path to leadership is fraught with challenges that their male counterparts are less likely to face.

As a psychotherapist and executive coach with over two decades of experience supporting high-achieving women, I’ve observed how strength is often mistaken for invulnerability.
